Tawa men return to Div 1

For the first time since 2009 Tawa men are in Division 1 of the Wellington Interclub competition. From memory the team back then was:

The first order of business will be to organise a sharp, modern playing strip for everyone to wear. This is long overdue.

The 2023 Annual General Meeting of the Tawa Bowling Club is set for Sunday 30 July at 10.00am – all members that are able should attend. If you are interested in serving on the Executive Committee, or in another elected position be sure to get your signed nomination to the Secretary before 22 July. The club relies on its volunteers – without them there is no club!

Wellington Tournament Review

Bowls Wellington has released its recommendations for changes to Interclub, Centre events etc. for next season and beyond. There are some very good ideas here and bodes well for the future of Wellington bowls.

Tawa picks up 2 centre titles

23 Apr Isabelle Hassall and Linda Rayner capped off a memorable afternoon for Tawa by winning the Wellington Club Pairs title at Naenae, beating the experienced Victoria duo of Sarah Taukamo and Helen King. Earlier Scott Johnson's triple had prevailed over a gallant Lyall Bay junior team skipped by Simon Bennett. This game can also be viewed on YouTube.

All roads lead to Naenae

11 Nov The long-awaited and much-delayed World Champion of Champions Singles finally gets underway at Naenae BC in Lower Hutt 19–25 November. There is a field of 30 for men and 16 for women, all playing 10 games over 5 days of sets-format pool play. Both genders need to finish in the top 6 to progress, with the top 2 getting a free pass to the semi-final. Live streaming will no doubt be on Bowls New Zealand's Youtube channel. This promises to be a very interesting and exciting event!

2022 Commonwealth Games

25 Jul The bowls competition starts on 29 July and runs through to 6 August. You can follow the results here in chart form, but please note that this is unofficial or at least not officially sanctioned content.

Indoor events get underway

23–24 Apr NZIB is holding its Super Weekend in Christchurch, to be followed by the World Indoor Championships in Bristol from 25–29 April.
