Editorial: The need for colour

Our black and yellow "sharks teeth" gear is up to 8 years old now, and getting past it. We have an intake of new bowlers that need to be kitted out. So what are they to do?

Despite the best efforts of Doreen Mac to design and price some new gear, the initiative has not been approved by all members, so we remain in limbo.

This recalcitrance undermines the efforts of the Wightmans in recruitment, Graham Savell in communications, Doreen in coaching, and Bev Lindsay in college liaison – not to mention the investment we've made in the synthetic green. We desperately need to attract new members, and having a vibrant club strip is important to enhance the image of the club. Along with subs, coloured gear is a cost that it is now part of the modern game. So are you willing to play the game?

Let's face it; our present club colours are pathetic. We need to adopt more modern, vibrant colours. Colours that can be used as a solid colour strip. Tawa College blue with red and gold accents for example. That's what young people want to wear, not boring white with some gold and black squiggles here and there.

Come on members, let's have some constructive discussion on this matter. We need to reach a solution that will see the club through the next 10 years in good shape.
