Dale Lang is now a member of the NZ Black Jacks Womens' Team. Dale has been selected to represent New Zealand in the Asia Pacific tournament being played in Malaysia during August. Within this 5-person team, Dale is playing 2 in the Triples & 3 in the Fours. The wider NZ squad of 9 also includes Kaaren Guildford from Johnsonville and Clare McCaul from Silverstream.

This must surely be the greatest achievement by any member of our Club in its almost 50 years of existence. Dale is also a current member of the NZ Indoor Bowls team and before Malaysia is next month off to Broken Hill to play an international game against Australia. Very few players have represented NZ in both sports. To do this in the same year is probably a first. We are all very proud of you Dale. The recognition is well deserved.

Prior to this Breaking News the Editor was about to describe the highlight of the season. It was Dale being the women’s player of the tournament at the 2008/9 National Championships which included being runner up in the National Women’s Pairs and reaching the semi finals in the National Fours.
